Farewell Ceremony Announcement for Professor Kongjian Yu

Professor Kongjian Yu, an outstanding member of the Communist Party of China, founding dean of the College of Architecture and Landscape Architecture of Peking University, Boya Distinguished Professor at Peking University, eminent international landscape architect and educator, and founder and principle designer of Turenscape, tragically passed away at the age of 62 in a plane crash on September 23, 2025 (local time), while conducting an ecological survey in the Pantanal region of Brazil.

To deeply commemorate Professor Yu and honor his remarkable contributions to the construction of Beautiful China, promotion of global ecological civilization, and the development of the field of landscape architecture, a farewell ceremony will be held on October 18, 2025.

I. Farewell Ceremony Arrangements

Date: October 18, 2025 (Saturday)

Time: 09:00–11:00

Venue: East Hall, Babaoshan Funeral Home

(No. 9 Shijingshan Road, Shijingshan District, Beijing)

Transportation & Parking:

Attendees are kindly asked to arrive on their own. Parking is available at the West Fourth Gate Parking Lot. If congestion occurs, please use the Langyuan Parking Lot across the street. Public transit: subway and bus to Babaoshan Station.

Format:

On-site condolences. Memorial videos and a display of Professor Yu’s life and work will be presented.

Kind Reminder:

Wildflowers and fresh flowers will be provided at the ceremony for attendees’ convenience. Monetary gifts will not be accepted. There is no need to bring wreaths, banners, or other condolence items. Guests attending the farewell ceremony are kindly requested to dress solemnly and follow the guidance of on-site staff.
